The Role
AvalonBay is seeking a Senior Manager of Cash Reconciliation to lead a high-performing team responsible for reconciling bank and escrow accounts across the organization. This is a strategic leadership role focused on ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving process improvements, and enhancing banking system architecture in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
As the Senior Manager, you will:
Set strategic goals for the Cash Reconciliation team and align them with broader Financial Services objectives
Lead and develop a team of specialists through recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management
Oversee monthly reconciliations of bank, escrow, and petty cash accounts, ensuring resolution of discrepancies
Partner with Accounts Payable, Payment Services, and other departments to streamline workflows and improve system architecture
Manage the T-Recs system including workflow setup, rule configuration, upgrades, and vendor relationships
Monitor cash activity, approve bank transfers, and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP
Drive process improvements and document procedures, policies, and controls
Support internal and external audits related to cash activity.
Analyze corporate payroll accounts and prepare journal entries as needed
What You Bring
Education & Experience:
Associate’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
7+ years of relevant experience in cash reconciliation or financial services
Skills & Abilities:
Proven leadership and team development experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Proficiency in T-Recs or similar reconciliation systems
Advanced skills in Excel, Word, MRI, and Salesforce
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
Preferred:
Completion of T-Recs Certification Course
