As our Maintenance Manager, you'll be the senior maintenance leader on site, guiding a high-performing team while keeping the community in exceptional condition. You'll combine hands-on technical work with leadership, planning, and a constant focus on delivering an outstanding resident experience, all while championing Inclusion, Sustainability and Total Wellbeing.

As a Maintenance Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring residents enjoy a well-maintained and welcoming home:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of maintenance professionals
  • Ensuring maintenance requests are completed promptly, professionally and to Equity Residential standards
  • Supporting and stepping in on hands-on maintenance when needed - electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, painting, repairs and more
  • Overseeing preparation of market-ready apartments and maintaining common areas and grounds
  • Managing scheduled maintenance, inspections and preventative maintenance programmes
  • Handling emergency response, on-call duties and special maintenance projects
  • Partnering with the Community Manager on budgets, capital projects, planning and operational improvements
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal and state housing laws, safety requirements and company policies

What You'll Need to Thrive:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Strong hands-on maintenance experience across plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC, interior repairs and painting
    • Experience leading, coaching or supervising maintenance staff (or clear leadership potential)
    • Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws and safe working practices
    • Valid driver's licence, good driving record, auto insurance and reliable transportation
    • Confident use of smartphones and maintenance software, with strong written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Flexibility to work any assigned shift, including weekends, and availability for emergency on-call duties
    • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, kneel, crouch, shovel, and perform a wide range of physical tasks
  • Own smartphone for certain job duties, compliant with company security requirements
