The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support accurate and timely payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-state employee population. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining data integrity in Workday. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to resolve issues, streamline processes, and support audits and year-end activities.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly and biweekly payrolls in Workday for 3,000+ hourly, salaried, and part-time employees
Ensure accurate calculations of wages, overtime, bonuses, taxes, and benefit deductions
Maintain and audit payroll data for new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, benefits, taxes, and garnishments
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations while maintaining data integrity
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate post-processing audit reports
Partner with ADP tax filing service to reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation, distribution, and reconciliation
Assist with Workday payroll configuration, testing, updates, and process improvements
Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Benefits to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
Stay current with state and federal wage and hour laws; recommend payroll best practices
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding promptly and professionally to employee inquiries
Assist with compliance audits, including Worker’s Compensation and 401(k)
Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent payroll experience
2+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment
Experience with Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance
Familiarity with California wage and hour laws a plus
Proficiency in Excel (reporting, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
APA membership and CPP or FPC certification a plus
