The Role

Summary: Based in Arlington, VA, this internship will contribute to the work of both the Asset Management and Affordable Housing Support departments.   Areas covered will include asset and market analysis, financial analysis and modeling, research and affordable housing program management.

Essential Job Functions:

Essential Duty

• Collaborate with the Asset Management to prepare asset investment plans and models of future investment performance.  Work will include SWOT analysis, financial analysis and financial modeling.

• Support Asset Management progress on annual business objectives, such as asset value add and risk mitigation initiatives.

• Collaborate with the ESG (“Environmental Social and Governance”) group, particularly supporting Asset Management’s role in researching and maintaining key asset characteristics, particularly those related to sustainability and building emission reduction targets.

• Collaborate with the Affordable Housing Support group to perform analysis of rent, occupancy and operational process performance.  Learn the basics of tax-credit and inclusionary housing compliance and complete income certifications for applicants for income restricted homes.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:

• Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in real estate or a business-related field

Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Problem solving skills.
• Financial analysis and modeling
• Presentation skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint
