Software QA Engineer

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is one of the nation's leading Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT's), in the business of developing, redeveloping, acquiring and managing high-quality apartment communities in high barrier-to-entry markets of the United States. We currently own and operate approximately 50,000 apartment homes in the US and employ approximately 2,000 associates. We are currently searching for the right candidate to join our Information Services team.

Responsibilities :

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for software quality assurance testing and providing support to the development and user community. Specific duties to include the following:
Responsible for quality assurance of software applications developed and maintained within the application development team.
Develops and maintains test scripts for software functionality.
Performs system, functional, data, DB integrity, integration, security and access control, user acceptance, stress, load, performance and regression testing.
Analyzes test results and facilitates resolution of issues.
Designs tests for installations and upgrades.
Implements automated testing where applicable.
Maintains test environments.
Adhere to SDLC methodology.
Assist in the definition and implementation of Quality Assurance standards and frameworks.

Qualifications :

Qualified candidates will have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; and six years software testing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent in design and planning skills.
Experience with MS Team Foundation Server and/or comparable collaboration platforms.
Experience with the software development methodologies.
Experience with test automation platforms (such as Ruby/Watir for test automation preferred).
Experience using SQL (preferably SQL Server), writing queries to analyze and troubleshoot.
Experience with Visual Studio and C# preferred.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
